Also known as Relaxation Dentistry, sedation dentistry is one of the best ways to manage pain, anxiety and panic during the various dental treatments, especially oral surgeries and teeth extraction.

There are various modes of Sedation Dentistry including oral sedation IV or intravenous sedation and laughing gas (nitrous oxide) sedation. The dosage of anesthesia used usually depends on the type of procedure to be performed.

The sedation levels can be:

  • Minimal: Awake but relaxed condition
  • Moderate or Conscious: A bit of slurring and forgetfulness
  • Deep: Awake but on the very edge of consciousness
  • General Anesthesia: Complete unconsciousness
